La Altagracia Province is the easternmost and largest in the Dominican Republic. Officially, it covers 2,998 km² with a population of over 400,000 inhabitants. The majority of young population is involved in tourism, although both agriculture and cattle farming are also well-developed. The province got its name in honor of the Virgin of Altagracia, the protector of the Dominican people. The Basilica of Higüey is the tallest and most renowned pilgrimage sanctuary in the country attracting thousands of visitors each year. The province is washed by both the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. It includes the following well-known tour destinations:

• Higuey City is an administrative center and the biggest town of the province that counts, approximately, with almost 250,000 inhabitants. Actually, the majority of young people of Higuey has their jobs in Punta Cana hotels & resorts and it takes them about 45 minutes to get to Punta Cana.
• Punta Cana / Bavaro is the most famous tourism destination. There are more than 50 all-inclusive Beach Resorts, regular hotels and a widely known Punta Cana International Airport. Punta Cana/Bavaro is  famous for its diverse cuisine restaurants, bars, thematic parks, golf courses, discos, and other attractions.
• Verón is a local town of the tourist municipal district of Punta Cana within the municipality of Higuey, La Altagracia Province.
• Cabeza de Toro is a small fishing village with no significant infrastructure and a home to around 8 all-inclusive beach resorts. Obviously, it includes small private hotels, some local restaurants and gift shops. Generally, it takes almost 30 minutes to get there from Punta Cana International Airport.
• Macao is a small village and its public beach is famous for surf lessons, small local restaurants and buggy tours.
• Uvero Alto is a touristic area with its light-yellow sand beaches named Arena Gorda and both all-inclusive resorts and gift shopping. Actually, it takes almost an hour to get there from Punta Cana International Airport.
• Boca de Yuma is a municipal district of the municipality of San Rafael del Yuma in the province of La Altagracia.
• La Otra Banda is a small town of approximately 6,000 inhabitants located next to the city of Higüey.
• Las Lagunas de Nisibón is one of actual municipal districts of the municipality of Higüey city and it is located in the northeast of La Altagracia Province.
• Bayahibe – the picturesque fishing village set between both beautiful beaches and countless natural springs. All the tours going to Saona Island start in Bayahibe port. 
• National Park of Cotubanama is actually one of the biggest national and famous natural reserves. Saona Island is famous for both white sandy touristic beaches and ecological and community engagements for students.
